St Kilda Chemicals is owned by
Nigel Pearce and Gary Johnson, and was formed in 2002 when they
bought AMP Chemicals in Port Elizabeth, the company that Gary
was working for at the time.
The name St Kilda (pronounced Saint Kilda,) comes from an island
off the Scottish Outer Hebrides that is now a World Heritage Site.
The name is probably a corruption of the Norse designation 'Skildir'
With the purchase of SAND-ED Agencies in 2006 and the on going
expansion of its product range, St Kilda has become one of the
largest suppliers of chemicals, and associated products, to the
phosphate and metal finishing industry in the Western Cape.
It’s Mission statement and competitive advantage is based
on the simple philosophy of providing a full range of high quality
products, with fast service delivery, whilst striving to develop
long term strategic partnerships with its customers and suppliers.
In order to meet there customer’s technical requirements
they have a fully equipped laboratory that includes a salt spray
testing facility and employs a fully qualified Industrial chemist.
The business has 5 delivery vehicles and a large on site stock
holding at its premises in Montague Gardens to ensure availability
and quick delivery. St Kilda is well positioned to meet the needs
of all its clients, which includes many national and international
companies.
